On behalf of staff and the board of directors, our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who is dealing with COVID-19 in anyway. For now, COVID-19 is a new reality whose end is uncertain, as well as the most surreal event of our lifetime. As cities and the Commonwealth have called for social distancing, staff is teleworking.
If you believe you are the victim of housing discrimination, call the office at 215-625-0700. Calls are being re-routed directly to staff at remote locations. If no one answers when you call, please be patient as our phone lines may be at full capacity. Also, rely on voicemail instructions. Someone will return your call as soon as possible.
Until social distancing protocols are lifted completely, staff at the Fair Housing Rights Center in Southeastern Pennsylvania (FHRC) will continue to telework. That means we will return calls/emails, offer assistance remotely, and schedule educational webinars and video conferencing sessions.
Housing providers that want to prevent fair housing complaints or due to settlements must schedule approved Fair Housing Compliance training, please send a request to email@example.com. I am happy to assist you by tailoring a Fair Housing Compliance training that matches your unique legal needs.
For information concerning moratoriums on evictions and foreclosures, see announcements from HUD and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Locally, FHRC and certified housing counselors have agreed to work together to support the public that may be impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
For information on the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (a.k.a. Coronavirus Relief), see how you may qualify to receive direct assistance from the federal government.
If you are actively searching for housing and experience discrimination, do not hesitate to complete the electronic Intake Form immediately found on our website. While I cannot guarantee that we can improve every indignity overnight, we will do our best to assist you.
COVID-19 is horrible; however, we will get through this crisis one day at a time.
