The Fair Housing Act protects college students with disabilities since colleges that provide housing must comply with the Fair Housing Laws. Under Fair Housing Laws a college or university may not discriminate against a student on the basis of their disability. Colleges and Universities should make reasonable accommodations for students with mental health disabilities to help them fully participate in University life. Bazelon Center’s “Campus Mental Health: Frequently Asked Questions” Guide helps college students navigate mental health disability rights.
